Susan Mailer + Esther Amini

SUSAN MAILER (b. 1949) is Norman Mailer’s first born. She grew up between Mexico City and New York, between her mother and her father. She graduated from Barnard College in 1971 and a few years later moved to Santiago, with her Chilean husband, becoming a psychoanalyst in the early nineties. Since that time, Mailer has been active in her psychoanalytic association and has written about a variety of topics published in Latin American journals. She teaches, supervises, and has a private practice in Santiago. She and her husband spend a few months of each year in Manhattan and in Provincetown, MA. Mailer has three grown children and four grandchildren. In Another Place, With and Without My Father Norman Mailer is her first book.
ESTHER AMINI (b. 1949) is a writer, painter, and psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice. Her short stories have appeared in Elle, Lilith, Tablet, The Jewish Week, Barnard Magazine, TK University’s Inscape Literary, and Proximity. She was named one of Aspen Words’ two best emerging memoirists and awarded its Emerging Writer Fellowship in 2016 based on her memoir entitled: Concealed. Her pieces have been performed by Jewish Women’s Theatre in Los Angeles and in Manhattan, and she was chosen by JWT as their Artist-in-Residence in 2019. Esther Amini lives in New York City with her husband.
