JOSEPH MECHAVICH (b.1969) is a highly accomplished conductor known for his exceptional commitment to excellence in his craft. His dedication has fostered long-term and career-defining relationships with various opera companies, composers, and orchestras worldwide.

In a 2019 review of Florida Grand Opera’s production of “Werther,” the Miami Herald praised Mechavich’s artistry, stating that “an astute conductor realizes that Massenet’s music must be as passionate and expressive as the action on stage.” Mechavich has also conducted numerous highly acclaimed productions of works by Carlisle Floyd and Jake Heggie, including “Susannah,” “Of Mice and Men,” “Cold Sassy Tree,” “Moby-Dick,” “Great Scott,” “Out of Darkness: Two Remain,” and “Dead Man Walking.” Additionally, he has recorded “Wuthering Heights.”

Mechavich will be conducting La Bohème for the Florida Grand Opera at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County (April 6-9, 2024) in Miami, and at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts (May 2-4, 2024) in Fort Lauderdale
