Dream Team: Books & Books + The Betsy Hotel
The Betsy-South Beach (thebetsyhotel.com), in partnership with Books & Books (booksandbooks.com) will collaborate on a new literary series, kicking off on January 25, 2026 at 4 PM. All program events will take place at The Betsy Hotel, 1440 Ocean Drive. Miami Beach, Florida, on the last Sunday of every month.
Series writers will be selected by Books & Books in partnership with major global publishers; appearances will be announced at least 30 days prior to public events. Public events will be free and open to the public in The Betsy’s B Bar, the property’s exquisite underground gathering space.
This new program celebrates a longstanding partnership between two family-owned-and-operated South-Florida small businesses, with ownership teams committed to the power of literature to build community. Jonathan Plutzik (The Betsy) and Mitch Kaplan, founder of Books & Books curated the Hotel’s first book collections together, in 2009 – creating the first 60 room libraries. Since then, the hotel’s book collections have expanded to include over 130 separate guest-room collections and a property library (open 24-hours a day) with several thousand titles.
The Betsy has been hosting VIP authors since The Betsy Writers Room (thebetsywritersroom.com) opened in 2012. And since then, more than 1500 creatives have spent contemplative time in the Hotel’s 1950’s style writing studio, with community-based events collaboratively presented on the Beach and beyond in partnership with Books & Books.
Ongoing support for this project comes from The Betsy Hotel, Books & Books Literary Foundation, The Betsy Community Fund at The Miami Foundation, and Plutzik Goldwasser Family Foundation. Special seed funding is provided by the Jorge Perez Family Foundation as part of a two year CreARTE grant.
