Annette Insdorf: A Passion for Cinema

ANNETTE INSDORF is an internationally renowned educator, lecturer, and author who has written numerous cinema-related books, including Francois Truffaut, Indelible Shadows: Film and Holocaust; Double Lives, Second Chances: The Cinema of Krzysztof Kieslowski; Philip Kaufman; Intimations: The Cinema of Wojciech Has; and Cinematic Overtures: How to Read Opening Scenes.
Dr. Insdorf is a Professor in the Graduate Film Program of Columbia’s School of the Arts, and served as Director of Undergraduate Film Studies for 27 years. She is also Moderator of 92Y’s Reel Pieces series.
Among the recent honors she has received are 92Y’s “Exceptional Women Award” (2020), the Silver Medallion from the 2021 Telluride Film Festival, and Moment Magazine’s Creativity Award (2021).
